Wow! This year is the 40th year of the London Marathon. This is one of the most iconic mass participation event in the world, and this year it is celebrating 40 years… amazing.
This year is different to all before. We will be running a virtual race – no big crowds, no route around London, no noise from start to finish, not the same atmosphere… a completely different event. This is the year of COVID19… but we are still running. The organisers have produced an app that allows us to run, track our time and distance, and see ourselves running the historic course.. all virtually from where ever we are running. It will be our own personal race… but at the same time thousands of us running together.
I am lucky enough to be running on behalf of Dogs Trust. You can support my run here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EdwardWallington
These wonderful folk are the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and care for over 15,000 dogs each year through a network of 20 rehoming centres in the UK. They have been involved in every piece of legislation affecting dogs over the past 126 years. Most dogs find loving new homes within about six weeks but those who need a little extra care are always safe with the Dogs Trust because they never destroy a healthy dog.
Your sponsorship contributions are used to help all the dogs in care. The money is used to cover the costs of running the Rehoming Centre, costs such as heating the kennels and washing the dogs’ bedding. The money also goes towards treats for the dogs, training and medical care – all with the ultimate goal of finding each dog a loving home.
